Is Your Lipo Doctor a Board Certified Surgeon? What Other Important Questions Should Clients Be Asking?

Any client who’s seeking laser liposuction in Minneapolis needs to do his or her research before settling on a doctor to perform the surgery. Liposuction is used to remove fat cells that diet and exercise can’t seem to get rid of. The most common sites for these fat deposits are the thighs, the belly, buttocks, under the chin and in the upper arms. While liposuction is safe, it’s still an invasive surgery. The surgeon applies a solution of salt water and anesthetic. This numbs the area and causes it to swell, which makes it easier to work on. Then, a cannula is inserted and the fat is suctioned out. With Minneapolis laser lipo, the heat of a laser is used to literally melt the fat. This makes it easier to remove and reduces damage to surrounding tissue and blood vessels.

The procedure also requires a recovery time. An elastic bandage might be put over the surgical site to keep down the swelling and drains may need to be inserted in the incision to drain fluid. The doctor will instruct to client on how to take care of the surgical wound, and there will need to be follow up visits to make sure that all is going as it should. Sometimes, the client will need to have more treatments to remove the excess skin that was left after the fat was removed.

Because of all this, it is imperative to choose a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The client should also ask any prospective surgeons about their experience in performing laser Liposuction in Minneapolis. Is the doctor a specialist in cosmetic surgery? How many laser liposuctions has he or she performed? How many years of training in cosmetic surgery does he or she have? Does he or she have hospital admitting privileges to perform liposuction? The client should be told the name of the hospital or hospitals. The hospital or other facility where the doctor works should also be accredited by the state or the country.

When all of this is ascertained, the client will be in a good position to choose the best doctor for his or her liposuction surgery.
